Lemon oil subtly pervades the mossy nose on this wine with richness and generosity. The juicy palate adds zestiness that plays above rounded, smooth yeastiness. Towards the finish this tapers towards limestone depth, ending with a long echo of lemon. Lovely now, the wine will show its truer self with bottle age. Drink 2022–2040. ... More details

Apples, melon, flint and stone on the nose with medium to full body and allspice and bitter lemon at the finish. Drink now.

The 2018 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru has a comparatively rich bouquet of peach, linseed and a very subtle petrolly aroma. The palate is well balanced with a bitter lemon note on the entry. This is more saline and spicier than the Vaillons, featuring stem ginger and menthol on the finish. An attractive Fourchaume that should give a decade’s worth of drinking pleasure.

This white hints at peach and greengage, along with lemon, pastry and stone flavors. It's complex and balanced, with a finish that stretches out echoing the mineral element. Best from 2021 through 2028. 200 cases imported.

An overtly floral and attractively expressive nose reflects additional background nuances of oyster shell, iodine and wet stone. The impressively rich and generously proportioned medium weight plus flavors possess very good intensity that carries over to the complex, long, dry and focused finale. This is lovely and a wine that should drink well after only a few years of bottle age.
Winery
Very aromatic bouquet, combining fruity and floral notes. Nicely elegant palate that blends power, raciness and roundness.

Varietal: Chardonnay

There are few white wine grape varietals as famous or widely appreciated as the Chardonnay, and with good reason. This highly flexible and adaptable grape quickly became a favorite of wineries due to its fairly neutral character. This neutrality allows the wineries to really show off what they are capable of doing, by allowing features of their terroir or aging process to come forward in the bottle. As well as this, most high quality wineries which produce Chardonnay wines take great efforts to induce what is known as malolactic fermentation, which is the conversion of tart malic acids in the grapes to creamy, buttery lactic acids associated with fine Chardonnay. Whilst the popularity of Chardonnay wines has fluctuated quite a considerable amount over the past few decades, it seems the grape varietal allows enough experimentation and versatility for it always to make a successful comeback.

Region: Burgundy

The beautiful region of Burgundy in France is famously home to some of the most exquisite red wines to be found anywhere on earth, and is most commonly associated with the silky, elegant and flavorful Pinot Noir varietal wines which are commonly produced there. However, the superb and mineral rich soils fed by the Rhone river, and the long hot summers and mild autumns of the region produce a wide variety of fine grapes, and as such, Burgundy produces plenty of different wines which are equally as good as the produce the region is famed for. The region of Burgundy itself has a wine-making history which stretches back at least two thousand years, and as such, it comes as no surprise that the wineries which fill the dozens of controlled appellations of the region rely heavily on traditional methods and techniques when it comes to producing their famous wines.

Country: France

Year in, year out, France enjoys its prestigious reputation as the producer of the finest wines in the world. With a wine making history which spans several thousand years and owes its expertise to the Romans, it comes as little surprise that this most highly esteemed of the Old World wine countries continues to impress and enchant both novices and experts to this day. Despite the rise in quality of wines from neighboring European countries, not to mention the New World, the French wine industry continues to boom, with up to eight billion bottles being produced in recent years. However, France prides itself on always putting quality before quantity, and the wide range in fine produce is a testament to the dedication and knowledge of the wineries across the country. Indeed, from rich and complex reds to light and aromatic white wines, French wines are as varied and interesting as they are enjoyable to drink, making this country a firm favorite for wine lovers across the globe.
