Of all the white wine grape varietals, surely the one which has spread the furthest and is most widely appreciated is the Chardonnay. Interestingly, Cote De Beaune produces more red wine than white wine, despite its white wines being so famous. The world renowned sub-region of Cotes de Nuits in France is found in the heart of the Burgundy wine region, surely one of the most highly esteemed wine regions in the world. Cotes de Nuits is in the northern half of the Cote d'Or, and as such, enjoys the same high quality limestone soils found elsewhere in the region, soils which provide plenty of nutrition and character for the cultivation of fine grape varietals.
