The Rhone Valley of southern France is a particularly fascinating wine region, with a history that stretches back to at least six hundred BCE, when the ancient Greeks first began cultivating vines there. The region itself is split into two distinct sub-regions, with the northern sub-region being famed for its production of exceptional Syrah, Marsanne, Roussane and Viognier wines, packed full of interesting character and expressing the terroir found there. The southern sub-region is home to an enormous variety of grapes, and produces red, white and rosé wines, and some of the world's most famous and adored blended wines. The continental climate of the region is ideal for growing grapes, and the winds which blow from the Central Massif help temper the heat in the vineyards, leading to very ripe fruits holding plenty of flavor.

Lovely spicy, woody nose, with baking spices and ripe, unctuous strawberry fruit. What a wonderful texture this has; so deep, velvety, long and harmonious. This has relatively restrained alcohol for such a potent vintage, making for a very well balanced wine of great class and grandeur. Drinking well now, yet it will improve. Best from 2030. Grown half on galets roulés, half on sand, 28% new oak, all very well integrated. This cuvée includes their old Grenache vines, partly destemmed.

Winery Notes

Purple color with shimmering reflections. On the nose of powerful fragrances: wild blackberries, ripe cherry, highlighted with vanilla notes and dried flowers. Opulent on the palate, this wine is impressive in concentration, it delivers flavors of almost jammy red fruits, sweet spices (cinnamon), complemented by more vegetal touches (menthol) almost smoked. The finish is surprisingly long, the solid and homogeneous tannins bode well for ageing!
