Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

The 2016 Soutard has a tightly wound blackberry and marine-tinged bouquet, touches of iodine infusing the fruit, perhaps a little more backward than recent vintages have shown at this stage. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin, good acidity, quite fresh with a touch of orange sorbet that brightens up the pretty finish. Soutard has been threatening to make a wine as good as this! Recommended. (91-93)
There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. Whilst there are six 'official' Bordeaux grapes, the two key varietals for almost every fine Bordeaux wine are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and with good reason. Among the wines tasted for this article, this is the first vintage where things fall into place, with greater fruit purity – autumnal red berry – and pencil lead coming from the Cabernet Sauvignon. The vintage has the lively acidity of 2011 and 2014, but is riper and with a slightly longer finish than that of the 2012. The estate began to use fewer sulfites, which could explain the superior fruit purity. And yet, there is still a sense of oak-derived, drying tannin on the medium finish, however.

The 2016 Château Soutard comes from the team of Thomas Duclos and is 63% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The vineyard is located mostly on the upper plateau and limestone soils, and the wine was raised in 60% new French oak. Deep purple-colored and loaded with notions of crushed rocks, spring flowers, violets, and sweet cassis and black raspberry fruit, it has subtle background oak, full-bodied richness and depth, and a beautiful sense of both power and elegance. It’s capable of lasting for two decades or more.

The 2016 Soutard has a ripe, showy bouquet, one of the few more like 2015 than 2016, featuring red plum and kirsch and revealing touches of Moroccan spice with time. The medium-bodied palate is smooth-textured and open, offering supple tannin, plush red cherries and wild strawberry fruit. Hints of vanilla emerge toward the finish. Lovely.
