The 2020 Clos René has developed into a powerful, structured wine, much moreso than it was from barrel. Dark cherry, plum, chocolate, leather and licorice are all amplified. This potent, deep Pomerol needs time to soften, that is for sure. There is a lot of wine here.

I loved the 2020 Clos René from barrel and it showed just as well from bottle, exhibiting a deep ruby/plum hue, notes of smoky red and black fruits, spice, and minty herbs, medium to full body, building tannins, and a great finish. It needs 3-4 years to resolve some tannins but should drink nicely over the following decade or more. It's another brilliant Pomerol in 2020.
