Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

The beautifully and unforgettable French region of Cote De Beaune has been revered throughout the centuries, and recognized as one of the key producer's of the world's finest white wines. The region is highly respected as an excellent producer of Chardonnay wines, and the Chardonnay grapes which grow there, on the southern slopes of the Cote d'Or, are packed full of the unique and powerful characteristics of this very special terroir. Interestingly, Cote De Beaune produces more red wine than white wine, despite its white wines being so famous. As usual, I sampled the various constituents of the cuvée before tasting a representative blend of the 2018 Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epeneaux, and as ever, the whole is superior to the sum of the parts. Wafting from the glass with a deep bouquet of raspberries, cherries, peonies, spices, orange rind, cassis, woodsmoke and espresso roast, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, its lively and concentrated core of fruit framed by rich structuring tannins, concluding with a long and sapid finish. This promises to number among the Côte de Beaune's wines of the vintage, and it will be well worth seeking out.

A soft dollop of wood frames the distinctly earthy aromas of plum, black pinot fruit and violet that are definitely ripe yet remain nicely fresh. The medium-bodied flavors possess a beguiling texture and fine mid-palate concentration thanks to the abundant dry extract that serves to buffer the firm and vaguely rustic tannic spine supporting the balanced and beautifully persistent finale. This is marked by the warmth of the 2018 vintage yet even so, it manages to remain inviting and refreshing. In a word, excellent.

The 2018 Pommard Clos des Epeneaux ler Cru is much more understated on the nose compared to its peers. Well-defined, with red berry fruit, forest floor, bay leaf and light truffle scents. The palate is well balanced with sappy red fruit, lightly spiced with candid orange peel and blood orange surfacing towards the persistent finish. It does not quite have the pedigree of the very finest 2018s Pommard, but it is clearly well made. Tasted blind at the Burafest 2018 red tasting.
