Made from 70% Chardonnay and the rest Pinot Noir, the NV Champagne 1er Cru Grand Cellier Brut is a bright yellow color and offers very appealing aromas of lemon curd, meringue, white peach, almond pastry, and verbena. It has good tension on the palate with a chalky texture, a luxurious feel, and a refined, pinpoint mousse. This lovely wine is only going to improve if given the chance.

The sparkling wines of Champagne have been revered by wine drinkers for hundreds of years, and even today they maintain their reputation for excellence of flavor and character, and are consistently associated with quality, decadence, and a cause for celebration. Their unique characteristics are partly due to the careful blending of a small number of selected grape varietals, most commonly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. These grapes, blended in fairly equal quantities, give the wines of Champagne their wonderful flavors and aromas, with the Pinot Noir offering length and backbone, and the Chardonnay varietal giving its acidity and dry, biscuity nature. It isn't unusual to sometimes see Champagne labeled as 'blanc de blanc', meaning it is made using only Chardonnay varietal grapes, or 'blanc de noir', which is made solely with Pinot Noir.

The beautiful rolling hillsides of the Champagne region of France have, for hundreds of years, been producing many of the world's most famous wines. The sparkling white wines to come out of Champagne's prestigious wineries have conquered the world, and are drank in celebration across the globe. The vast majority of the region is under vine, and grows predominantly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varietals, which are usually blended together by master wine-makers in order to make their recognizable and widely loved produce. The north-easterly region of Champagne has a relatively cool climate, and quite a lot of rainfall, making it far from ideal for ripening grapes. However, the presence of heavily forested areas in the region helps maintain a balanced temperature, and the generations of expertise the wineries hold clearly produces excellent results in spite of the climatic problems.

A vivid Champagne, with chiseled acidity enmeshed with flavors of crushed boysenberry and chopped yellow peach fruit, lime peel, fragrant nutmeg and cumin, plus hints of crystallized honey and oyster shell. This is tightly meshed and racy, yet the raw silk–like mousse carries the flavor profile nicely through the persistent finish. Enjoy this today as well as with cellaring. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. A blend of 70% pinot noir and 30% chardonnay, this has a complex and sophisticated nose that delivers peach fruits and citrus, plus some bolder yellow plum fruits too. The palate is assertive, energetic and concentrated with peach and nectarine flavors met with lemony acidity. Long, really powerful Champagne here. Drink now or age on cork for three or more years.

The NV Brut Grand Cellier (2022 base) is exuberant and showy. Then again, this is a 2022-base release. Lemon confit, tangerine oil, white flowers and pasty notes all meld together. There's gorgeous mid-palate viscosity and texture here. This is impeccably done. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Disgorged: January 2025.

An elegant, pure and airy nose combines notes of citrus peel, soft yeast and plenty of green apple, pear and petrol scents. There is excellent intensity to the crisp, intense and focused flavors that terminate in a very dry and linear finish. As is almost always the case with Vilmart wines, the supporting effervescence is quite fine and overall, this could be enjoyed young or easily held for another 5 to 7 years depending on your preferences.

Lemon-gold in color, it makes a light aromatic first impression with notes of apple and pear compote, crème fraiche, lemon zest and wild strawberry coulis that flows to a medium-bodied, creamy palate with a textured, fine mousse enveloping ripe citrus and racy acidity. Great intensity and length on the taut finish with a little salinity.
